Oyster Bay Implements Speed Restrictions for 4th of July Weekend

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino signed an executive order on July 3 to lower the speed limit  in Oyster Bay Harbor to five miles per hour from 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 4 to  a.m. Friday, July 5. He also announced intensified patrols on all waterways during the holiday. Officials also provided safety  guidelines for boaters and personal watercraft operators and demonstrated the use of boater  safety equipment.

 

“Whether traveling in beautiful Oyster Bay Harbor or in the Great South Bay, all residents out on  our waters are urged to take extra caution on Independence Day,”Saladino said. “My  Town Board colleagues and I have ordered the Town’s Bay Constables to intensify patrols throughout the weekend to help prevent senseless accidents. In addition to observing speed limits, all  levels of law enforcement will be out to make sure those who are enjoying our waterways are  doing so responsibly.”
