Adams’ Immigrant Swimmers
The left is notorious for seeking to label anyone they disagree with as being a racist or diving into racist waters. It’s deplorable. Yet it’s no less inappropriate when it’s done from the right. Two examples came up in the past week.
First, New York City Mayor Eric Adams made the boneheaded remark that we need to seek out illegal border crossers to become city lifeguards, since we have needs in that department.
His claim was that immigrants — presumably Hispanics — are very good swimmers. Now this is certainly a stupid and unsubstantiated claim, but was it racist?
Even if he was referring to Hispanics as being good swimmers, why that would that be racist? Again, we don’t understand the logic. Why would Hispanics be better swimmers than anyone else? Is it because they had to wade across the Rio Grande to get here?
Adams’ remark was just plain dumb. But let’s not muddy the waters by claiming that he had racial intent.
A Sportscaster’s Remarks
Then there was the cruel remark from Boston Red Sox legend Jonathan Papelbon, who on his podcast labeled ESPN announcer Stephen A Smith as a racist for suggesting that Anaheim Angels superstar Mike Trout was babying his injuries and not getting out on the field as much as he should. https://sportsnaut.com/boston-red-sox-legend-calls-stephen-a-smith-racist/
Why would this superstar, who is heading to the Hall of Fame and has an impeccable record in Major League Baseball, be faking an injury?
Smith was out of line. But even more ridiculous was this podcaster who made disgusting accusations against Smith as being a racist for simply stating his opinion. Enough already.
Trump Trial: Double Standards
What’s wrong with this picture? The judge in the Donald Trump hush money case has allowed countless amounts of testimony related to irrelevant salacious descriptions of Trump’ alleged sexual encounter with Stormy Daniels, including what positions they engaged in. On the other hand, the judge limited testimony from an expert on federal election law, who would have testified that nothing Trump or his people did violated federal election law, which is the very basis of this lawsuit.
