On April 16, during Autism Acceptance Month, Nassau County Legislators Seth I. Koslow (D-Merrick) and Michael Giangregorio (R-Merrick) joined together to honor JFK High School junior Jayda Levine for her outstanding leadership and advocacy efforts in promoting inclusivity and accessibility in the community.
Levine, a participant in her high school’s leadership program, organized an innovative event called “ASD on Ice” at Newbridge Arena. The event was specially designed to offer a safe and comforting environment for children on the autism spectrum to enjoy ice skating. Beyond organizing events, Levine has also been instrumental in fundraising, having raised thousands of dollars for Eden II’s Genesis Programs. This not-for-profit organization is dedicated to providing services for individuals living with autism.
“Jayda’s dedication to enhancing awareness and improving the lives of those on the autism spectrum through her philanthropic efforts is both admirable and inspirational,” Koslow said. “The compassion, creativity, and determination displayed by our youth, such as Jayda, serve as a powerful motivation for all of us.”
