Major Case Unit detectives charged Junior Romero-Delcid, 27, with leaving the scene of an incident involving a fatality after he fled the scene of the crash that killed Felix Cesi Oliva Cruz
on East Suffolk Avenue on September 25, 2023. Oliva Cruz was struck by two vehicles. Romero-Delcid was driving a white Honda Civic; detectives are still seeking the identity of the driver of the dark-colored SUV.
Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives investigated a hit-and-run crash that killed Oliva Cruz which two vehicles fled the scene in Central Islip. Felix Cesi Oliva Cruz was riding a bicycle northbound across East Suffolk Avenue at Lowell Avenue when he was struck by two eastbound vehicles, a dark-colored small SUV and a white sedan at on September 25, 2023 at approximately 6:30 a.m. Both vehicles fled the scene eastbound on East Suffolk Avenue. Oliva Cruz, 65, of Bay Shore, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead.
Romero-Delcid was scheduled to be arraigned on February 6 at Suffolk County Court in Riverhead.
