The Town of Brookhaven, in conjunction with the Montauk Surfcasters Association and the Chamber of Commerce of the Moriches, will host the 4th Annual Keith Romaine Memorial Snapper Derby on Sunday, September 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m, at Union Dock in Center Moriches.
This family-friendly event is open to children up to 18 years old. All participants are asked to bring bait and tackle, a bucket and fishing pole. Complimentary T-shirts will be provided while supplies last. Prizes will be awarded for the biggest fish in various age categories. JVC Broadcasting will also be onsite to provide musical entertainment throughout the day.
A $5.00 donation is suggested, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Joseph Rera Memorial Scholarship Fund, which has been established in honor of the Center Moriches teen, an avid fisherman who lost his life in a tragic fishing accident in November 2019.
