Suffolk Police Look into Three Traffic Deaths over the Weekend

Suffolk County police are currently investigating three traffic fatalities that occurred this past weekend and are seeking information on these incidents.

On August 18, Gabriel Reyes was operating a 2018 Kawasaki motorcycle westbound on Spur Drive North when his motorcycle crossed the double yellow line, approximately 300 feet west of Route 111, and struck an eastbound 2011 Ford Explorer head-on at approximately 11:40 a.m.

Reyes, 50, of Bay Shore, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford, Edwin Espinoza, 38, of East Rockaway, was not injured.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.

On August 19, Olivia Montgomery was driving a 2016 Dodge Ram onto Westbound Sunrise Highway, from the Exit 61 ramp, when she lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and overturned, ejecting her from the vehicle, at approximately 10:50 p.m.

Montgomery, 20, of Farmingville, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.

On August 20, Christopher W. McGuckin was driving a 2012 Hyundai Genesis southbound on Route 112, near Washington Avenue, when he lost control of the vehicle, which struck a telephone pole and a fire hydrant, and then crashed into a tree, at approximately 12:45 a.m.

McGuckin, 54, of Shoreham, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
