A Jericho man was sentenced to up to 15 years for colliding with a motorcycle while intoxicated, killing a father of four children. Jordan Soloman, 32, was driving his 2021 Kia K5 at nearly three times the legal limit for alcohol when he collided with 29 year old Stanley Soorbian.
On March 15, Jordan Solomon, 22, was driving on Jericho Turnpike while highly intoxicated. He was traveling at 100 miles per hour when he crashed into a motorcycle driven by Stanley Soorbian, 29. Soorbian was pronounced dead at the scene. Solomon’s blood alcohol content was measured at .23 two hours after he was arrested by officers of the Nassau County Police Department.
Solomon pleaded guilty on March 20, before Judge Caryn Fink on the charges of second-degree aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated driving while intoxicated. He was sentenced on June 6 to 6 ½ to 15 years in prison.
“Jordan Solomon, out celebrating a new job at a local restaurant, made the decision to get behind the wheel at nearly three times the legal limit for alcohol and speed down Jericho Turnpike,” said Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly. “ That disastrous choice resulted in a crash that cost Stanley Soorbian his life and left four children fatherless. This is a tragic reminder of the devastation caused by drunk and reckless driving. Our hearts remain with Stanley’s many family members as this defendant is sentenced for his crimes.”
