A Long Beach woman was arrested for allegedly striking and killing a bicyclist, then fleeing the scene.
According to Nassau County Homicide Squad detectives, a 67-year-old woman was operating a 2019 Honda HRV eastbound on Beech Street near the intersection of Scott Drive when she allegedly struck an unknown male bicyclist March 24 at 7:46 a.m. in Atlantic Beach. The driver allegedly fled scene eastbound on Beech Street. The bicyclist was pronounced deceased at scene by the Long Beach Fire Department.
After a thorough investigation, the Nassau County Police Department, in conjunction with the Long Beach Police Department, located the vehicle. The driver, Erin M. Henry, 67, was placed into custody without incident. No other injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
Police charged Henry with Leaving the Scene of an Incident Causing a Death. She was arraigned on March 25, 2026 at First District Court in Hempstead.
