Nesconset Man in Jail for Killing Ex-Girlfriend Indicted for Conspiracy

A Nesconset man has been indicted for allegedly orchestrating a plan to have the home of her ex-girlfriend burglarized, while he awaits trial for her murder.

According to the investigation, Austin Lynch allegedly conspired with another to burglarize the residence of Emily Finn, Lynch’s former girlfriend. Lynch allegedly provided the co-conspirator with detailed information about the home’s appearance, layout, and contents, and instructed him on how to gain entry into the residence. At the time of the alleged plot, members of the victim’s family were still living in the home.

On March 20, 2026, Lynch, 18, was arraigned on the indictment before Supreme Court Justice Anthony S. Senft, Jr., for Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree, a Class E felony.

Senft ordered Lynch to be remanded during the pendency of the case.

“While awaiting trial, this defendant allegedly sought to terrorize the family of Emily Finn, the  young woman he is accused of killing,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney. “Our office will not allow victims and their loved ones to be subjected to further harm.”

Lynch is due back in court on May 4, 2026, and faces up to 1⅓ to four years in prison if convicted of the charge. Additionally, Lynch faces up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted of the Murder in the Second Degree charge that he is already facing related to Finn’s death.
