If you want to get a quick understanding of the left’s hypocrisy on foreign policy, look no further than a marvelous cartoon printed in the February 11 edition of the Washington Examiner.
The cartoon shows two women, one a student protestor with a sign that says “Free Palestine” and right next to her is a woman with a head scarf with a sign that says, “Freedom for Iran.”
Above the head of the student protestor is a bubble showing what she says to the woman seeking freedom in Iran. The student exclaims: “Iran? Our protests have nothing to do with freedom.”
Wow! If that doesn’t encapsulate the mindset of today’s young socialist protestors, we don’t know what does. They claim to be concerned about freedom and take to the streets to support the repressive government of Hamas, which has ruled over Gaza for the last 20 years. It’s the same regime that would put you in a dungeon if you held the hand of your gay lover in public or did not wear your hijab to cover your hair.
They despise Israel, the one state in the region that provides freedom and tolerance for women and gays. But their hypocrisy is exemplified further by their indifference to the plea of women oppressed in Iran who seek the type of freedom women in Israel and the U.S enjoy.
The left truly believes supporting them against the mullahs could be deemed to be Islamphobic.
Where is women’s soccer player Megan Rapinoe, who felt the need to protest America’s values during our national anthem, but now remains conspicuously silent when Iranian women soccer players protested against the Iranian regime, which truly is repressive against women, gays, free speech or freedom to worship?
So really, their protests have nothing to do with “freedom” for Palestine and everything to do with critical race theory, which sees any non-white person in the world as being oppressed, and any white person (which they incorrectly assume are Israelis) as being oppressors, no matter how superior their record of tolerance to minorities may be.
In a way, it’s almost hard to blame these young students. They’re indoctrinated by Marxist professors in their universities and get their news from TikTok, which is controlled by the Chinese Communist Party.
Let that be a lesson to the normal folks out there who want a return to the good old days.
