So the lefties controlling the British government decided to erase Winston Churchill’s face from their five-pound notes. That’s right — the man who saved Britain and the Western world from the Nazis is now persona non grata to the socialists who control a once-proud England.
These revisionists of history now portray one of the great heroes of World War II as being a symbol of white supremacy and British colonialists. This is white guilt at its most loathsome level.
This move should wake up everyone who has been downplaying the march towards Marxism in the West.
It should also make us reflect upon the prescient words of George Orwell, who warned that the Marxists would try to take control by rewriting history. As we said many times in this column, the main character in Orwell’s 1984 had a job that was based around erasing the true history of the past and reconfiguring it in a way that kept the totalitarian government at the time in power.
It was just 26 years ago that historians were pondering who should be named the person of the 20th century. Many concluded that it should be Winston Churchill, the man who stared down Hitler, refused to compromise with him and demanded nothing but total unconditional surrender. His bravery, determination and articulation of the difference between good and evil helped bolster the confidence of the British people. They believed that they could stand up to Hitler and win the war. But, now, this champion of democracy is being erased into the ash heap of history.
Future generations will no longer learn of Churchill’s successful efforts to save the Western world and its values that are clearly superior to those of our totalitarian enemies.
Instead, the British, like the leftists in the United States and beyond, will continue to appease the growing radicalized populations within their borders, whose main goal is to wipe out Western democracies as we presently know them.
