So an internal memo from the state energy folks set off a glaring alarm that the climate change policies enacted by the state legislature and signed by then-Governor Andrew Cuomo are about to inflict fiscal Armageddon on the people of New York.
We long warned that this was pie-in-the-sky legislation that had set ridiculously unattainable goals of having all of our energy produced by renewables within an unrealistically short period of time.
We warned that it would be brutally expensive and prone to failure, given the fact that solar, wind and other alternative fuels are not very efficient and actually cost a great deal of money when subsidies are not thrown into the package.
This leaked memo confirms what we have been saying all along, but what the woke, virtue-signaling politicians wanted to keep hidden, at least until after their elections.
Energy costs in New York State have already increased by 50% since this crazy climate change bill was enacted in 2019.
And the memo notes rates will be raised even higher with increases of thousands of dollars a year for natural gas users, with some state residents paying over $4,000 a year.
All this from the same folks who yapped incessantly about affordability — the same folks who made New York State unaffordable.
Perhaps this leaked memo will finally bring some state and rational Democrats to the fore to start battling back against the socialist and the Green New Deal extremists. So far, the moderate Democrats — if they even exist anymore — have been too cowardly to speak out
