Suffolk County police arrested a Mastic woman for stealing items from vehicles and businesses in Shirley and Mastic.
Seventh Precinct officers responded to a 911 call reporting a woman allegedly attempting to break into vehicles in front of 109 Poospatuck Lane on March 1 at 9:07 a.m. Seventh Precinct Investigative Unit officers notified the responding patrol officers that subject, Janelle Edwards, was wanted for other incidents in the area. Officers arrested Edwards shortly after.
Edwards was charged with the following incidents:
- She allegedly stole $827 worth of nasal spray from Stop & Shop, 999 Montauk Highway, Shirley, on February 13 at 10:48 a.m.
- She allegedly stole cash from an unlocked 2005 Toyota on Revilo Drive in Shirley on February 27 at 12:56 a.m.
- She allegedly stole cash from an unlocked 2019 BMW on Revilo Drive in Shirley on February 27 at 2 a.m.
- She allegedly broke a window of a 2011 Hyundai and stole a wallet on Bullard Street in Mastic on February 27 at 6:25 a.m.
- She allegedly stole food from Handy Pantry, 630 Mastic Road, Mastic, on February 28 at 6:15 a.m.
Edwards, 38, was charged with five counts of Petit Larceny and one count of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree. She is being held at the Fourth Precinct and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on March 2.
