Two men from Queens were arrested for robbery and grand larceny after they allegedly left a Valley Stream store without paying for the merchandise.
According to Nassau County detectives, Jahkeli Mason, 19, of Springfield Gardens and Darren Gordon, 36, of St. Albans entered Target, located at 500 W. Sunrise Highway. They allegedly selected assorted merchandise, placed it in a shopping cart and then proceeded to leave without paying for them.
Loss Prevention officers confronted the defendants, who then threatened and shoved the employee before fleeing the scene. A short time later, the defendants were located, and after a brief foot pursuit, they were placed under arrest without incident. No injuries were reported.
Police charged Mason with Robbery in the Second Degree and Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree. Gordon was charged with Robbery in the Second Degree and Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree. They were scheduled to be arraigned on February 28 at First District Court in Hempstead.
