Suffolk County and Brookhaven Town GOP Committee Chairman Jesse Garcia attended the February 24 State of the Union in Washington, D.C. as a guest of U.S. Congressman and Chair of the Homeland Security Committee, Andrew Garbarino (R-Bayport). Garcia was also joined by Suffolk Conservative Chairman Michael Torres.
“[Last night], I was honored to personally witness, along with my friend, Suffolk County Conservative Party Chairman Michael Torres, President Donald J. Trump deliver a powerful State of the Union address — one that truly celebrated the heart of our nation and the everyday Americans who make the American Dream a reality,” Garcia posted on social media.
“From the U.S. Capitol, the President reminded us that America’s strength isn’t measured by elites or pundits, but by hardworking families, small-town heroes, and the countless citizens who persevere and prosper through faith, grit, and determination,” Garcia added.
Garbarino told Newsday why he invited Garcia. “Some people use their ticket to do an issue, and that’s fine,” Garbarino said. “This is nothing more than Jesse has been a friend. He renominated me this year, he’s been a friend for a very long time.”
During President Donald Trump’s speech, Garcia noted how Trump touted an economic boom, compared to the previous administration, and focused on the millions of Americans whose success stories are “the true testament to the promise of this great nation.”
“What stood out most was the President’s spotlight on real people whose lives have been lifted by lower costs, strengthened job markets, and economic reforms that put America First,” Garcia said. “These stories reflect what we know in Suffolk County and Brookhaven: when America embraces freedom, enterprise, and ingenuity, our citizens thrive and our communities grow stronger.”
Garcia called the State of the Union “a celebration of American exceptionalism — the belief that our nation, founded on liberty and opportunity, continues to lead the world not by accident, but by the unmatched character of its people. Under President Trump’s leadership, and that of Congressmen Nick LaLota and Andrew Garbarino, America is not just strong; we are respected, prosperous, and poised for an even brighter future.”
