With Winter Storm Hernando making its way through Long Island over the next two days, Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine has issued a travel ban for the county beginning 9 p.m. on February 22 through 9 a.m. on February 23. The ban does not apply to essential workers and plow operators.
In addition, Suffolk County Transit service will shut down systemwide at 4:00 p.m. on February 22. All service will remain suspended on February 23.
According to The Weather Channel, snow will fall throughout the day on February 22. At 7 p.m., blizzard-like conditions will hit the region until 2 p.m. on February 23.
News 12 reported that Long Island might receive 18 to 24 inches of snow.
