So New York City‘s new communist mayor is telling the world that he has only two choices to deal with his budget deficit. One is to raise income taxes and the other is to raise property taxes.
As a former elected official who had to deal with rough times and deficits, allow me to educate the Marxist mayor. You do have a third option. It is called controlling your spending.
But you don’t want to cut anything because you want to continue to grow government until it employs 75% of the city’s population. That is a choice.
This is a mayor who campaigned on the theme of affordability. How are you making things more affordable to people when you raise property taxes on middle-class people by 9.5%?
