Police Assist in Birth of Baby Girl in Westbury

Nassau County police responded to a case involving the birth of a baby girl in Westbury.

On February 16 at 2:30 a.m., Third Precinct officers responded to a Westbury residence for a call of a 35-year-old woman in labor. Upon arrival, officers observed the mother in active labor.

With the assistance of Nassau County Police Department medics, the officers assisted in delivering the baby girl. The police medics were able to cut the umbilical cord and stimulate the baby. The mother was given additional care in the home before being transported in a Nassau County Police Department Ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.

The baby and the mother are listed in stable condition and doing well.
