Two from Hempstead Arrested for Gun Possession

A man and woman from Hempstead were arrested for gun possession during a traffic stop in Farmingdale.

On February 14 at 11:56 p.m., Nassau County officers from the Eighth Squad conducted a Vehicle Traffic Law (VTL) stop on a 2017 Hyundai on Conklin Street in the vicinity of Waverly Place. During the course of the investigation, a nine-millimeter Ruger handgun was located inside the vehicle. Both occupants, Madison Nelson, 22, and Jakhi Baggett, 19, were placed under arrest without incident.

Police charged Nelson with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and multiple VTL violations. Baggett was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Firearm.

They were both scheduled to be arraigned on February 15 at First District Court in Hempstead.
