Was Also Connected to Previous Crime in Freeport
A Far Rockaway man has been arrested for a robbery that occurred in North Lawrence.
On January 19 at 9:13 a.m., an unknown male entered AutoZone, located at 711 Burnside Avenue, carrying a cardboard box. The subject allegedly approached a female employee, 34, and two male employees, 69 and 40, displaying a handgun. The subject allegedly demanded cash from the registers and directed them to place it in the box. The employees complied and the male fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
During the investigation, it was determined that the same subject was responsible for a robbery that occurred on January 15 in Freeport at DCAP Insurance, located at 17 West Sunrise Highway. The subject allegefly displayed a handgun while making demands. He allegedly ran off with an undisclosed amount of money, an electronic device and a white pocketbook.
A thorough investigation was conducted with the Freeport Police Department and Tony Ogarro, 61, was arrested.
Police charged Ogarro with four counts of Robbery in the First Degree. He was arraigned on February 11 at First District Court in Hempstead.
