Voters Once Again Get Fooled by So-Called ‘Moderate’ Democrats

How many times have we said it before: There is no longer any such thing as a moderate Democrat?

Sure, there are a multitude of Democrats who run campaigns professing to be moderates, but in the end, they are forced by their leftist flank to vote in line with the progressives.

And those who run to lead states as governors, claiming that they will be sensible centrists, prove over and over again to be wolves in sheep‘s clothing.

All one has to do is look at Virginia’s Abigail Spanberger.

Spanberger bragged about being a CIA agent and someone who was steeped in her patriotism and affinity for the middle class. But the first thing she did as the newly minted governor was to allow all legal aliens to stay in Virginia by prohibiting state personnel from working in cooperation with ICE, who are merely trying to deport those who came here illegally.

Basically, Spanberger declared herself an open-border governor.

Then she went about proposing to tax everything, everywhere, all at once. They’re even talking about taxing dog walking.

She’s doing this, despite the fact that she is inheriting an $8 billion surplus from the former Republican governor.

The Democrats — who created the affordability crisis in the first place with huge spending bills that prompted higher interest rates and runaway inflation — are claiming they are the antidote to unaffordability. And their first course of action is to take more money out of the pockets of beleaguered taxpayers.

Then there is New Jersey Governor Mikey Sherrill, who, in her first month in office, will likely eviscerate graduation standards for Jersey students.

Even when a Democrat such as Tom Suozzi has inclinations of governing from the center, in the end they almost always vote with the progressives, as Suozzi did with Biden’s agenda, and as he is now being forced to back off his original opposition to defunding ICE.

Let’s stop pretending. The Democrats are now controlled by their socialist wing. And though many will campaign as moderates, in the end, they wind up supporting the progressive agenda, simply to survive politically.
