One Killed, One Seriously Injured in Hit-and-Run on William Floyd Pkwy.

Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed one person and seriously injured another in Shirley. 

Two adult men were changing a flat tire on a vehicle parked on the side of the road, just north of 1180  William Floyd Parkway, when they were struck by a vehicle at approximately at 6:45 p.m. The vehicle fled the scene. Detectives believe the car that fled the scene is a black Honda and has front and passenger side damage. 

One person was pronounced dead at the scene; the other person was transported to Stony Brook  University Hospital with serious injuries. Both victims’ identities are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. 

The victim’s car was impounded for a safety check.
