We despise the policies and the hostile attitude of Squad member Ilhan Omar from Minnesota. Nevertheless, we sharply denounce the attack upon her at a community event this past week by a political opponent who approached her and sprayed a liquid upon her.
No elected official, regardless of the horrors of their policy platforms, should be subjected to this type of attack.
It could’ve been much worse.
Perhaps this attacker believed that he would be a hero amongst those who find Omar‘s policies and lack of gratitude toward this country that saved her abhorrent.
He’s no hero. He’s a degenerate who should be given a severe jail sentence.
Strict, immediate penalties are needed against these violent political attackers if a proper deterrent is to be put in effect.
And the same applies to those who commit violence from the left. The nurse who was fatally shot by ICE agents last week had attacked the vehicle of federal officers the previous week by spitting on the truck and kicking out the rear tail light. Thereafter, officers exited the car and tussled with him. He resisted, and it resulted in a number of broken ribs.
But the question is: Why wasn’t he arrested and put in jail? What kind of deterrent is there to these radical, violent protesters if they can inflict this kind of damage and violence, and then walk away with no arrest?
The irony is that, were he arrested for his criminal activity and had been in jail, he would not have been free to inject himself in the melee the following week that resulted in his death.
This isn’t to say his shooting was justified, but the question remains why he wasn’t arrested after his first criminal act against law enforcement officials.
