A Syosset man has been arrested for assaulting a woman during a domestic disturbance.
On January 16 at 10:45 p.m., Nassau County police officers from the Second Precinct responded to the parking lot of 1029 Oyster Bay Road in East Norwich for a disturbance. Upon arrival, it was determined that Syed Ibrahim Ali, 25, was allegedly involved in a disturbance with a 30-year-old female victim. The disturbance escalated and Ali dragged the victim out of the restaurant and pinned her to the ground. The victim broke free and ran back into the restaurant and attempted to call 911. Ali allegedly followed the victim, took her cellphone and got back into his car. The victim entered the defendant’s vehicle in an attempt to retrieve her phone, and Ali drove off westbound on Northern Boulevard with the victim in the car.
While in the vehicle, the victim was able to text officers of a possible destination. After a thorough investigation, New York City Police Department Highway One units were able to locate Ali and the victim physically fighting on the side of the road on Bartow Avenue, Bronx. The defendant was placed under arrest and was transported to the Second Precinct for processing. The victim and defendant had minor injuries, but both refused medical attention at the scene.
Police charged Ali with Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing in the Second Degree and Aggravated Criminal Contempt. He will be arraigned on January 18 at First District Court in Hempstead.
