The North Hempstead town board unanimously approved its 2026-2030 five-year Capital Plan on January 7 at their first board meeting of the new year.
The 2026 plan continues to focus on ongoing projects like road resurfacing, drainage improvements, and large-scale sidewalk replacements, but also outlines more ambitious initiatives. This includes:
- The in-kind replacement of the Town Dock using federal and state funds
- Renovations to the Carlton Avenue Bridge and roadway in Port Washington
- Reconstruction and roadway improvements to Westbury Avenue in Carle Place
- Sidewalk and Sewer Construction along Plandome Road in Manhasset
- Equipment and facility updates at the Town’s Solid Waste Transfer Station
“The Capital Plan isn’t just a wish list that sits on the shelf,” Supervisor Jennifer DeSena explained. “It’s a planning tool that helps us identify funding options and build realistic timelines for projects. This week, the board will vote on bonding, which will determine our ability to move forward on these long-planned projects.”
