Nassau County police arrested a Pennsylvania woman for grand larceny and identity theft.
According to detectives, Zench Eye Care, located at 2450 Merrick Road, Baldwin received a fraudulent email on September 20, 2021 requesting a wire transfer to be completed in the amount of $49,300. The transfer was completed, as it was believed to be a legitimate payment to a vendor. The following day, the business contacted police to report the fraudulent payment request.
During the investigation, it was also revealed that a check issued by a Syosset law firm for $101,150.61 on June 17, 2022 had been intercepted and altered by an unknown subject and deposited into an unauthorized personal bank account.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Defendant Danesha Glenn, 28, of 2937 Page Street, Philadelphia, was responsible for the above crimes. She was located and arrested without incident.
Police charged Glenn with Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and Identity Theft in the First Degree. She was arraigned on January 9 at Nassau County Superior Court in Mineola.
