Eight Arrested at Patchogue DWI Checkpoint

The Suffolk County Police Department, assisted by the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, arrested eight motorists during an overnight sobriety checkpoint in Patchogue. 

Police officers from the Suffolk County Police Department’s Highway Patrol Bureau Selective Alcohol  Fatality Enforcement Team conducted a joint sobriety checkpoint operation with Suffolk County Deputy  Sheriffs at Waverly Plaza, located at 371 North Service Road, on December 19 at 11 p.m. until December 20 at 2 a.m. Volunteers and staff from MADD and STOP DWI also assisted, giving educational information to motorists. 

The checkpoint was part of a holiday weekend enforcement crackdown targeting alcohol- and drug-impaired driving. A total of 338 vehicles went through the checkpoint. 

The following were charged with Driving While Intoxicated: 

  • Melvin Galeano-Aguilar, 30, of Ridge 
  • Mark Warga, 54, of Bohemia 
  • Pablo Mendez-Muy, 23, of Central Islip 
  • John Dorcinvil, 46, of Patchogue 
  • Nicholas Romeo, 34, of Seaford 
  • Gerard A. Rogers, 36, of West Babylon 
  • Bert Wiegand, 32, of Bay Shore 

The following was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs: 

  • Rodney Prezeau, 31, of Hempstead 

The above arrestees were scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on December 20.
