A second person from Central Islip was arrested for allegedly stealing a car in Brentwood with a child inside. Police arrested the first suspect, a 17-year-old from Central Islip, last week.
On December 11 at 11:30 p.m., Third Precinct police officers from Suffolk County responded after a 2014 Honda Civic, which was running with a three-year-old child inside, was stolen from a driveway on Whipple Street in Brentwood at 11:30 p.m.
Following an extensive search, the vehicle and child were located on Bretton Road on December 12 in Hauppauge at approximately 5 a.m. The child was unharmed and was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for evaluation. Third Squad detectives charged a 17-year-old Central Islip male with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree in connection with the incident.
Third Squad detectives arrested another 17-year-old male from Central Islip on December 14 and charged him with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree.
The teen, whose name is being withheld due to his age, was arraigned on December 15 in the Youth Part of First District Court in Central Islip.
