Queens Man Arrested for Allegedly Using Fake Cash

A Queens man was arrested for allegedly using counterfeit money to make a series of purchases at two North Bellmore stores last year.

Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument for incidents that occurred on Sunday, September 15, 2024 in North Bellmore.

On September 15, 2024, Andrew Cambero, 25, of 3434 82nd Street, Jackson Heights, entered the 7-Eleven located at 2663 Jerusalem Avenue at 2:44 pm and another 7-Eleven located at 2259 Jerusalem Avenue at 3:24 pm and allegedly used counterfeit currency to make multiple purchases within the stores before fleeing the scene. After an extensive investigation, Cambero was located and placed under arrest without incident on December 7, 2025.

Police charged Cambero with five counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the First Degree and two counts of Petit Larceny. He is scheduled to be arraigned on December 8 at First District Court in Hempstead.
