Employee Loses Three Fingers
Suffolk County First Squad Detectives are investigating an incident in East Farmingdale after a man cut three of his fingertips off in an industrial accident.
Elmer Rios, an employee of L&S Packaging Company, located at 101 Central Ave., was operating a food dicing machine when he stuck his hand inside the machine to clean it out, and three of his fingertips were cut off.
Rios, 45, of North Amityville, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with serious injuries.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to contact First Squad detectives at 631-854-8152.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was notified.
