Comments Being Accepted for Proposed Changes to Transportation Improvement Program

The New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) is currently accepting public comments on a series of amendments to its Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for Fiscal Years 2023-2027.

This amendment proposes programming or reprogramming funding for the following project, each of which would last five years:

  • Asphalt pavement resurfacing on Jericho Turnpike (Route 25) from Kings Park Road to Hauppauge Road (Route 111) in the Town of Smithtown at an estimated total project cost of $6 million to $9.4 million
  • Asphalt pavement resurfacing on Sunrise Highway (Route 27) from the Queens/Nassau County line to Harrison Avenue in the Town of Hempstead at an estimated project cost between $15 million and $25 million
  • Asphalt pavement resurfacing on Route 27 from Harrison Avenue to Wantagh State Parkway in the Town of Hempstead at an estimated cost of $12.5-$19 million
  • Asphalt pavement resurfacing on Route 27 from the Wantagh State Parkway to the Nassau/Suffolk County line in the Towns of Hempstead and Oyster Bay at an estimated cost between $12.5 million and $19 million
  • Asphalt pavement resurfacing on Broadhollow Road (Route 110) from Route 27 to Baylis Road in the Towns of Babylon and Huntington, costing between approximately $15 million and $25 million 
  • Asphalt pavement resurfacing on Hempstead Turnpike (Route 24) from the Meadowbrook State Parkway to Route 110 in the Towns of Hempstead, Oyster Bay and Babylon with a cost of approximately $15-$25 million
  • Asphalt pavement resurfacing on Route 27 from the Nassau/Suffolk County line North Monroe Avenue, and the Sunrise Highway north and south service roads from Farmingdale Road/Fulton Street (Route 109) to Udall Road in the Towns of Babylon and Islip. The total cost of the project is estimated to be between $15 million and $25 million.

Comments will only be accepted via email and can be sent to NYMTC-TIP@dot.ny.gov. The deadline is December 1 at 4 p.m.
