Huntington Man Arrested for Stabbing during Road Rage Incident

Suffolk County police arrested a man following a road rage incident during which he allegedly stabbed and seriously injured a man in Huntington. 

A 60-year-old Huntington man was driving a 2017 Mercedes Sprinter van northbound on West Neck  Road near Old Hickory Lane when the vehicle was struck by a Jeep on November 198at 3:42 p.m. The driver of the Jeep,  Jayson Heitner, then allegedly approached the victim with a boxcutter, leading to a physical altercation. The victim, who is not being identified, sustained multiple slash lacerations to his face and body from the knife, as well as bite wounds to multiple fingers.  

Heitner, 26, of Huntington, was arrested and charged with Assault in the Second Degree. He is being held at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on November 19. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
