A recent report has shown that more than 85,000 electric vehicles (EVs) were registered on Long Island, with more registered EVs in Nassau.
According to Drive Electric Long Island, motorists registered 85,047 EVs last month. Of that number, 44,620 were in Nassau County, compared to 40,427 in Suffolk.
When broken down by hamlet, Huntington Station and Syosset were the only two locations with more than 2,000 registered EVs with 2,747 and 2,089, respectively. Huntington was third with 1,918 EVs, followed by New Hyde Park (1,878), Plainview (1,763) and Port Washington (1,453).
Wainscott had the most registered EVs per 1,000 residents with 114, according to Drive Electric LI. Roslyn was second with 95, followed by Old Westbury (93), Great Neck (90) and Jericho (89).
The hamlet that has seen the largest growth rate in the number of registered EVs over the past three months was Cedarhurst at 20.1%, just edging out Glenwood Landing, which saw 20.0% growth. Point Lookout’s growth rate was 16.4%, followed by West Sayville (14.5%), West Hempstead (14.4%) and Carle Place (13.7%).
