Restaurant Owner Arrested for SLA Violation

Allegedly Hosted Illegal Poker Games in Basement

Suffolk County police  arrested the owner of a Huntington Station restaurant after discovering he was allegedly hosting illegal gambling on the premises. 

In response to a recent stabbing assault on October 13, Second Precinct Crime Section officers, in conjunction with New York State Liquor Authority (SLA), Town of Huntington Fire Marshal, and Town of  Huntington Ordinance Inspector, conducted a SLA Inspection at La Hacienda, located at 1650 New  York Avenue, at 10:56 p.m. 

During the inspection, patrons were reportedly observed in the basement of the establishment, allegedly drinking and playing cards. 

The owner of the restaurant, Jose Reyes, 30, of 8 West 14th St., Huntington Station, was arrested for  Disorderly Premise, an unclassified misdemeanor in the ABC Law, and issued a Field Appearance  Ticket.  

The Town of Huntington Fire Marshal and Town of Huntington Code Ordinance Inspector issued five combined Building, Fire and Code Violations to the owner. The SLA will be conducting a further  investigation into the establishment. 

The arrestee is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on December 4.
