Conservatives have long complained about what they believe is a sharp liberal bias in the media that helps prop up Democrats while disparaging Republicans. Liberals believe this is a figment of the conservatives’ imaginations and that there’s no such bias.
But the manner in which the liberal media picked up on the bogus, distorted, and selective leak of emails regarding Jeffrey Epstein and Donald Trump this past week serves to prove that the conservatives are not imagining this bias.
Of the thousands and thousands of emails that have been floating around via congressional investigations on the Epstein matter, only two emails related to Trump were expedited for a leak this week on the same day that Democrats capitulated on the government shutdown.
The Dems were getting clobbered for having shut down the government for 40 days and then, after the election, reversing themselves on the decision to reopen the government without really accomplishing anything. It’s not a coincidence that this leak occurred on the same day that they were receiving all this flak.
Worse than the deliberate manipulation of the news cycle was the fact that the liberal media played along and played up this nothingburger of a leak.
Take, for instance, the front page corner headline in Newsday that, as to the Epstein emails released by congressional Democrats, Trump “knew about the girls.“
It sure sounds damning, doesn’t it? Sounds like this is some kind of new revelation that connects Trump to the illicit activity conducted by Epstein.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
The emails leaked by the Dems conveniently blank out the name of the victim. But it is already clear from previous disclosures that the victim was Virginia Giuffre, who had come out publicly attacking Epstein. She is now deceased, but, ironically, and in contradiction to the narrative promoted by the Democrats and their friends in the media, had definitively stated that she never had any illicit activities with Trump and described him always as being a gentleman in their encounters.
The fact is that Trump was angry with Epstein (whom he did know at the time) for poaching his staff to go work for him, and banned Epstein from his premises.
Taken out of context is the text claiming “of course he knew about the girls as he asked Ghislaine [Maxwell, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for child sex trafficking] to stop,” could sound damning. But when placed in the proper context, it is actually an exoneration of Trump.
Certainly, Trump knew of the girls and women Epstein was poaching from his clubs. It doesn’t mean he knew of them because he was soliciting sexual favors from them.
There’s nothing incriminating about Trump having “asked Ghislaine to stop.” If anything, that makes Trump look good. That’s the case whether he was telling Epstein to stop poaching his staff or if he was telling Epstein to stop abusing these women and girls.
But all this is inside baseball. Few casual readers know of this history or the context. The plan by the Democrats was to leak selected information to paint a narrative that they knew would be picked up by their allies in the liberal media and blast the headline that somehow Trump was involved in such illicit activity with Epstein‘s victims.
This is proof that the conservatives are right when they talk about liberal bias in the media and another disgusting example of the media and their Democrat allies smearing the GOP.
