Crash on Southern St. Parkway Leaves One Dead

One person is dead after losing control of her car and crashing into a tree off the Southern State Parkway.

On November 2 at approximately 5:37 a.m., New York State troopers responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision on the Southern State Parkway westbound in the area of exit 22N (Meadowbrook State Parkway) in the Town of Hempstead. The driver of a 2002 gray Toyota Camry, identified as Mia-Renee S. Edwards, 19, of Hempstead, veered from her lane and lost control before leaving the roadway, and hitting a tree. Edwards was transported to Nassau University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. The investigation is still on going.
