Selden Man Arrested for Allegedly Recording 13-Year-Old Girl Unlawfully

Suffolk County Police arrested a Selden man after he allegedly took pictures of a girl as she changed her clothes in a dressing room of a retail store.

The 13-year-old girl was in an aisle of the store browsing at greeting cards on October 19 when the suspect bent down and used his cell phone to take pictures under her dress. at approximately 2 p.m. The girl’s father witnessed the incident and approached the man, who immediately fled on foot. The father then reported the incident to police.

Following an investigation by Sixth Squad detectives, Aqeel Ahmad was arrested in his car at the intersection of College Road and Galaxie Lane in Selden on October 28 at approximately 6:40 p.m. Aqeel, 53, of 111 College Road, was charged with Unlawful Surveillance in the Second Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on October 29.
