Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D-Plainview) joined leaders of the Plainview Water District and his colleagues in government on October 10 for a ceremony celebrating the completion of the Plant 4 treatment facility.
The advanced installation features a unique combination of Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP), Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) and specialized nitrate and perchlorate treatment, marking what officials described as the first local implementation of this specific system.
“As a lifelong resident of Plainview, it is reassuring to know that our water infrastructure is equipped to prevent emerging contaminants like 1,4-dioxane, PFAS, nitrates, and perchlorate from reaching faucets in our homes and businesses,” Drucker said. “This state-of-the-art facility is yet another testament to the Plainview Water District’s commitment to public health, and I congratulate their entire team for their unwavering focus upon delivering safe and clean water to our community and devising an innovative and unique model that will be replicated throughout New York State and our entire country.”
