There’s a reason so many Americans are disgusted with the duplicity of
their leaders. This disillusionment is exacerbated by the awful hypocrisy exhibited by U.S. Representative Mikie Sherrill (D-New Jersey), the Democratic candidate for governor in New Jersey.
Garden State residents are apoplectic over the huge 40% yearly increase in electric rates since Governor Phil Murphy and his Democratic colleagues joined with the Biden administration in imposing radical, unrealistic green policies.
Natural gas and nuclear facilities were shut down. Democrats raised a fortune in taxes and electric fees to subsidize unreliable wind and solar projects.
There’s nothing wrong with trying to expand wind and solar on a gradual basis to the grid, but it was extraordinarily foolish to shut down our natural gas capacity before these new alternative energy sources were prepared to fill the gap. It was obvious to all that disaster was looming.
It was Mikie Sherrill, who ironically tries to paint herself as a moderate, who espoused the radical leftist green policies. She was even on camera, conceding these policies were going to cause rates to explode. More specifically, she stated, “We need to move to clean power.… It’s gonna cost you an arm and a leg, but if you’re a good person, you’ll do it.” Hard to think of a more elitist remark than that.
So she admitted that she caused these electric rates to go through the roof. But now, when she wants the vote of these people she just clobbered, she is saying, “Don’t worry, on day one, I will just impose a rate freeze on the utilities.” Ha ha. If only it were that easy, or even legal.
