Pedestrian Hit by Car in Shirley

A Mastic man is in the hospital after being hit by a car while trying to cross a busy roadway on foot.

On October 5, Christopher Thompson was walking across William Floyd Parkway from west to east at the intersection of Montauk Highway when he was struck by a northbound 2017 Nissan SUV at approximately 11:05 p.m. 

Thompson, 34, was airlifted via police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Nissan, Dawn Breck, 53, of Shirley, was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
