A 37-year-old man was indicted for allegedly causing a multi-vehicle crash while driving impaired.
On May 17 at approximately 3:20 p.m., Miandad Khan, 37, of Dix Hills, was operating his silver 2016 Mercedes Benz E350 northbound on Deer Park Avenue in Deer Park when he allegedly struck a white 2020 Acura near the intersection of Deer Park Avenue and Jacqueline Way and then fled. During his flight, Khan allegedly drove northbound over the center median into the southbound lanes of travel and accelerated at high speeds.

The couple had to be extracted from their vehicle before being brought to Good Samaritan Hospital to undergo surgery for facial and spinal fractures. Additional vehicles were damaged by debris.
The brothers in the Honda SUV, as well as the driver of the 2020 Acura, were all transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where they received medical treatment.
On August 20, 2025, Khan was arraigned on the indictment before Supreme Court Justice John B. Collins with one count of Aggravated Vehicular Assault, two counts of Assault in the Second Degree, one count of Vehicular Assault in the First Degree, two counts of Vehicular Assault in the Second Degree, one count of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, one count of Assault in the Third Degree, one count of Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree, one count of Reckless Driving, one count of Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting, one count of Speeding, a traffic infraction and one count of Failure to Maintain Lane.
