Teen Arrested for Central Islip Shooting in June

Suffolk County police arrested a teen for a shooting that seriously injured two people in Central Islip in June.

On June 19 at 4:30 p.m., two groups of people were near the pool at Hawthorne Living, located at 211 Hawthorne Ave., when they had a dispute that turned physical between two people. Someone in the group allegedly fired several shots, striking a 16-year-old involved in the physical altercation and a bystander. Two parked vehicles and an apartment door were also struck. The groups dispersed before police arrived.  

The 16-year-old was transported in serious condition to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and the 25-year-old female bystander was transported in serious condition to South Shore  University Hospital in Bay Shore. 

Following an investigation, Third Squad detectives arrested a 15-year-old male on August 14 for allegedly shooting two people at the Hawthorne Living Apartment Complex two months ago.

The juvenile was charged with Attempted Murder 2nd Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Reckless  Endangerment 1st Degree and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree. He was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.
