
A 58-year-old homeless man was arrested for an incident that occurred in Mineola.
On August 6, at 12:05 a.m., officers were in the vicinity of Old Country Road and Willis Avenue when they observed Christopher Douso riding a bicycle who they knew to actively have open Nassau County Warrants for his arrest.
Officers attempted to place the defendant under arrest but he fled northbound on Willis Avenue and then turned Eastbound on Third Street. When officers caught up to the defendant, he resisted arrest causing one officer to sustain minor injuries. He was eventually placed under arrest without any further incident. The injured officer was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Douso is charged with Assault in the Second Degree, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree. His active warrants include charges of two counts of Burglary in the Third Degree, Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree, Criminal possession of Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and two counts of Trespassing.
He was scheduled to be arraigned on August 6 at First District Court, Hempstead.
