
Was Allegedly Involved in Domestic Disturbance before Fleeing the Scene
A Brooklyn man has been arrested for assault and resisting arrest after allegedly being involved in a domestic disturbance in Elmont.
On July 13 at 2:21 p.m., Nassau County police from the Fifth Squad responded to a G Street residence for a domestic disturbance. Officers were informed that a verbal argument occurred between Kareem Howell, 34, of 2266 Ralph Avenue, and a female victim, 32. The argument escalated and a physical altercation ensued, resulting in Howell allegedly striking the victim multiple times before forcibly grabbing her phone. The woman, in fear for her life, left the residence.
When police arrived, Howell fled the scene on foot, but was located nearby. Police attempted to place him into custody, he allegedly became violent and combative, causing two officers to sustain injuries during the course of the arrest. The injured officers were transported to a local area hospital for treatment of their injuries. Howell was also transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Police charged Howell with two counts of Assault in the Second Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, Harassment in the Second Degree and Resisting Arrest. He is scheduled to be arraigned on July 14 at First District Court in Hempstead.
