A 10-year-old boy was rescued from the waters in Atlantic Beach.
On July 13 at 4:39 p.m., the boy was swimming in the vicinity of the Clearwater Beach Club near the Jetty, when he became in distress. An off-duty Nassau police lieutenant assisted an Atlantic Beach Village lifeguard in bringing the child to safety. The Atlantic Beach Fire Department was present at the scene. All individuals refused medical attention at this time.
The Nassau County Police Department is making the following recommendations to swimmers:
- Be cognizant of your surroundings,
- Watch for dangerous riptides.
- Swim only where lifeguards are present and during daylight hours only.
