A Lakeview man was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated in West Hempstead.
On July 6 at 3:17 a.m., Nassau County Fifth Precinct officers responded to the vicinity of Woodfield Road and Coventry Road North for a bicyclist who had been struck. A 49-year-old male was riding a bicycle northbound on Woodfield Road when he was struck by a Silver Chrysler 300, which then fled the scene. The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local area hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
After a thorough investigation, Sebastien Castin, 23, of 487 Champlain Avenue, was located near the scene of the accident. He was placed under arrest without incident.
Castin was charged with second-degree vehicular assault, driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident with injury. He is scheduled to be arraigned on July 7 at First District Court in Hempstead.
