Suffolk County Police yesterday arrested a home health care worker for allegedly stealing and using the debit card of a former patient.

Lexus Stewart was previously employed as a home health aide for an 82-year-old Bethpage woman.  After the victim was admitted to a rehabilitation center in Oakdale, Stewart’s services were no longer  needed. Stewart visited the woman at the center on May 12, 2025 and allegedly stole her debit card.

Stewart allegedly withdrew $500 from the victim’s account and later returned the card back into her wallet.

Following an investigation by Financial Crimes Unit detectives, Stewart, 28, of 165 N. 26th St., Wyandanch, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and third-degree identity theft.

Anyone who believes they may be a victim is asked to call Financial Crimes Unit detectives at 631-852-6821.
