
Four Officers, Five Fiefighters Injured
Five firefighters and four police officers were injured at a house fire in Elmont. A woman living inside the house was rescued.
On June 14 at 2:04 a.m., Nassau County officers responded to a house fire at a Norfeld Boulevard residence. Upon arrival, officers were notified that the homeowner was still inside the residence.
Officers entered the residence and were able to remove a 77-year-old woman from the residence. The resident was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Four Nassau County officers received minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The Elmont Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. The Nassau County Fire Marshall and Arson Bomb Squad also responded to the scene. Additionally, five Elmont Fire Department firefighters had minor injuries; three were treated at the scene and two were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The Town of Hempstead Building Department was notified of the fire. The investigation is ongoing.
