New York State Sen. Monica R. Martinez (D-Brentwood) will host a veterans mental health panel discussion on May 31 at Northwell Health, located at 1933 Union Boulevard in Bay Shore. The goals of the event are to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and connect veterans and families with community support.
Held during the same week as Memorial Day, the event will also honor the sacrifices of our service members by focusing on the mental health needs of veterans and their families. The panel will feature clinicians, advocates, and individuals with lived experience who will share insight, challenges, and resources related to veterans and the unique mental health challenges they face.
Attendees of the Veteran Mental Health Awareness Panel will have the opportunity to hear from experts and ask questions. Local organizations that serve veterans and military families will also be present to share information about the support services they provide.
The event begins at 10 a.m. and is being held in partnership with Northwell Health’s South Shore University Hospital. Veterans and their family members who wish to attend can register at https://tinyurl.com/Veterans-Mental-Health-Panel.
