A 12-year-old boy is dead after being struck by a vehicle as he ran across the street in Flower Hill.
On May 19 at 6:38 p.m., the boy ran across Middle Neck Road outside of a crosswalk in the vicinity of Northern Boulevard, when he was struck by a 2023 Ford pickup truck being operated by an 18-year-old male northbound on Middle Neck Road. The boy was transported to an area hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead by hospital staff.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
